Originally I wanted to be an event planner, but after a year of working in an office I decided to go back to school to become a teacher.  This was the best decision ever!  I have taught Kindergarten, Fifth Grade, Second Grade and Third Grade on the west and south sides of Chicago.  I am currently teaching Second Grade here at Peterson.

"My favorite thing about Peterson is all of the support we offer to students, parents, and teachers.  You never have worry because there is always someone there to help you!"

My favorite thing to do outside of Peterson is to spend time with my two nieces and try out different restaurants throughout the city of Chicago with my friends.

I was a network administrator for a non-profit organization.  After work, I would volunteer as a tutor.  After tutoring for a couple years I decided to attend grad school to become a special education teacher.

I enjoy reading, beading, traveling, spending time with my family and playing tennis.

I love spending time with my family. I am a lifelong Cub fan, and so I enjoy being at Wrigley Field. I also love reading, walking and cooking, especially when I am experimenting with new recipes.

"The staff is committed to learning and refining our practice so that we can do our best for students! It is exciting and inspiring to be surrounded by people that are always growing."

Outside of Peterson, I enjoy just about any outdoor activity, traveling, playing music, and visiting art galleries and events around the city.

CPS closed my prior school, and I ended up assigned to Peterson as a displaced substitute.  It was love at first sight.

"Peterson is my favorite because of my fiercely supportive families!"

Outside of Peterson, I spend most of my time with my own kiddos.

While studying education at DePaul, I began working with Chicago Public Schools as a Teacher's Assistant.  I was an assistant in a bilingual kindergarten and 1st grade classroom helping to build primary literacy skills.  Upon graduating, I worked as an ESL Teacher with students in 3rd-8th grade.  I'm passionate about improving academic achievement for our many students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

"My favorite thing about Peterson is the diversity of our student and staff.  The community at Peterson represents families from all over the world.  It's fun and interesting to learn about the many traditions, languages, and experiences of my students.  I also love how supportive our community is.  Even though we are very diverse, everyone works together to ensure our students are successful."

I love to eat!  I am a foodie and enjoy trying new and delicious foods.  Fortunately, Chicago has a ton of amazing restaurants to choose from.  I will try anything once.  Some of my favorite foods are: tacos, gnocchi, spinach salads, any type of seafood (especially scallops and octopus), bacon, and chocolate.

After experiencing subbing at several schools, I subbed here for about three months. I liked Peterson a lot.  I found out a person wasn't coming back, I spoke with the principal at the time about filling the position,  Ms. McManamon said "Yes, we would love to have you."  We went through all of the protocol and I have been here ever since. I am grateful and love this school!

My favorite thing to do, is to have gathering at my home with my family and friends.  I also enjoy spendinga lot of time at my church every week.
