I subbed at different CPS schools for about 4 years, but Peterson Elementary was my favorite School to Sub at. When I heard there was a SECA opening at Peterson I grabbed the opportunity and am growing and learning each day.

Growing up I always wanted to be a teacher. I loved school and the opportunity to learn new things. Over the years, I started to notice not all my friends/students felt the same way. I thought being an early childhood educator could have a positive influence on my students. My hopes were to inspire them to enjoy learning, to feel safe, to continue onto higher education, and live a happy fulfilling life with a career they are passionate about. Unfortunately, with everything going on at the time, I thought teaching might not be for me. I switched my major to Psychology, trying to pursue something else instead. After learning about the brain, development, and trauma, I decided I still wanted to work with children. I then took on a minor in Child Advocacy Studies. This was the turning point in my life, and is ultimately the reason I am here now. Thanks to my wonderful professor who is also a Peterson Parent and Community member, I was able to complete my internship here and also interview for a position after graduation! I am grateful my position here at Peterson allows me to advocate for children (and their families), while still inspiring them, making them feel safe, and encouraging them to do their best, not just in school but also in life.
My favorite thing about Peterson is the diversity and how quickly we are to lend a hand.
Outside of Peterson I like to spend time with my family, friends, and my dog, Ness. I love going to the beach, traveling, reading, being in nature, and learning new things.

As far back as I can rememberI've always wanted to work with children. While looking for an internship to complete my undergrad, a professor/local community member suggested I look into Peterson. I really enjoyed my time at Peterson while completing my hours in 1st grade. I was lucky enough to find an opening as a Diverse Learner classroom assistant and the rest is history.

Working in an education was not my original career path. After spending several years in the corporate world, I discovered my true calling in education. Transitioning to education brought me profound joy and a deep sense of purpose, as I found immense fulfillment in helping students thrive and reach their full potential.
Everyday in the classroom is an opportunity to make a difference. Whether it’s sparking a child’s curiosity, guiding them through challenges, or celebrating their success. The bonds I have formed with students and the joy of witnessing their growth has affirmed that this is where I truly belong.
What I love about Peterson is the strong community bonds and support we share. The rich diversity and vibrancy create an environment of inclusivity, making it truly special.
My favorite things to do outside of school is spending time with my family and two dogs, exploring new places, and trying new foods that I haven’t tried before.

After experiencing subbing at several schools, I subbed here for about three months. I liked Peterson a lot. I found out a person wasn't coming back, I spoke with the principal at the time about filling the position, Ms. McManamon said "Yes, we would love to have you." We went through all of the protocol and I have been here ever since. I am grateful and love this school!

I've always liked working with kids and when I was done with my Bachelor's Degree my goal was to find a job in education. I knew about Mary Gage Peterson Elementary School because my niece graduated here. She always appreciated all support that she got during her time at Peterson. With a strong elementary school foundation, my niece was able to accomplish many academic milestones. She become one of the first in our family to graduate college today is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. Now I have the opportunity to give back to the community for what they did for her. My goal is to do my best on the job and grow alongside my peer to achieve academic success for the students.
My favorite thing about Peterson is the diversity. People with different customs, thoughts, and goals make a difference in he community. Diversity is at the backbone of providing a well-rounded experience for our kids and in turn, ensures we have a community filed with understanding.
My favorite thing to do outside of Peterson is to spend time with my family. However, I specially enjoy crocheting with my mother who is 90 years old. she motivates me to continue doing my work and follow my aspirations. I have lots of fun crocheting with her and spending time with all my family during the weekends.
